Menyatakan Ketidak Sukaan (Expressing Dislike)
Kali ini kita akan belajar tentang berbagai cara mengungkapkan ketidaksukaan terhadap sesuatu, selain “I don’t like it”. Untuk memudahkan pemahaman, setiap ungkapan akan diberi contoh penggunaan dalam kalimat atau dialog singkat.

Contoh:
“I detest the new scoring system. It must be even harder to get good grades now.” (Saya sangat tidak menyukai sistem penilaian yang baru. Pasti sekarang jadi lebih susah deh untuk memperoleh nilai bagus.)
2. I dislike …
Contoh:
“I have to go to school now. I dislike being late” (Saya harus pergi ke sekolah sekarang. Saya tidak suka kalau sampai terlambat.)
3. That’s not my cup of tea
Contoh:
Mabelle: “Hey, do you like Taylor Swift’s new song?” (Eh, kamu suka tidak lagu barunya Taylor Swift?)
Caitlyn: “Hmm…I don’t know, that’s not my cup of tea.” (Hmm…entah ya, bukan jenis musik yang saya sukai sih.)

Contoh:
Olivia: “Oh No!” (Aduh!)
Daisy: “What happened?” (Ada apa?)
Olivia: “I broke my moisturizer cream bottle. Aargh, this is exactly why I don’t fancy glass container!” (Aku memecahkan botol krim pelembabku. Aaah, hal seperti ini nih, yang bikin aku paling tidak suka botol kaca!)

Contoh:
Gerry: “Hey, will you come to Fitta Candelaria’s painting exhibition?” (Eh, kamu mau ke pameran lukisan Fitta Candelaria tidak?)
Poppy: “Hmm…maybe not. I’m not a big fan of her works” (Hmm…sepertinya tidak deh. Soalnya aku tidak begitu suka karya-karyanya.)

Contoh:
Nicole: “Why don’t you wear that red dress?” (Kok kamu tidak pakai gaun yang merah itu sih?)
Ursula: “Well, the color is great. I’m just not crazy about the design” (Yah, warnanya sih bagus. Tapi aku tidak suka dengan desainnya.)

Contoh:
Kate: “Wow, that red lipstick is so pretty! I think I’m going to buy one. Do you want it too?” (Wah, warna lipstik itu bagus deh! Aku mau beli satu ah! Kamu mau juga?)
Monica: “I’ll pass. The color’s too bright for me.” (Tidak deh. Warnanya terlalu cerah kalau buat aku)

Contoh:
“I hate the idea of walking around during heavy rains” (Saya paling tidak suka kalau harus berjalan-jalan saat hujan deras.)

Contoh:
Regina: “That’s the wedding cake I told you about!” (Itu dia kue pengantin yang tadi aku ceritakan!)
Helen: “Eww, it looks horrible” (Ih, bentuknya jelek sekali yah!)

Contoh:
Erika: “Do you think he will pass the audition?” (Menurut kamu apa dia bakal lolos audisi?)
Tania: “I don’t think so. He sounds awful.” (Menurutku sih tidak. Soalnya suaranya jelek sekali.)

Contoh:
Marion: “How come you don’t you like Titanic? That’s like the best movie ever!” (Kok bisa sih kamu tidak suka Titanic? Itu kan film terbaik yang pernah ada!)
Jill: “Well, I’m not into sad movies… I’m more into rom-coms.” (Yah, soalnya aku tidak terlalu suka film sedih sih. Aku lebih suka film komedi romantis.)

Contoh:
Liz: “So, what do you think if we work on that task tomorrow?” (Jadi, menurut kamu bagaimana kalau kita mengerjakan tugas itu besok?)
Bethany: “Hmm, I don’t know how I feel about sacrificing my day off just for doing some papers” (Hmm…bagaimana ya, aku tidak tau apakah aku mau mengorbankan hari liburku hanya demi mengerjakan makalah.)

Contoh:
Waitress:“Do you want me to add sugar to your tea?” (Apakah anda mau bila tehnya saya tambahkan gula?)
Jacklyn:“No, thanks. It’s sweet enough.” (Tidak, terima kasih. Ini sudah cukup manis kok.)

Contoh:
“Aargh, I really can’t stand her. She’s so annoying.” (Ah, aku benar-benar tidak tahan sama dia. Orangnya menyebalkan sekali.)
15. I can’t bear …
Contoh:
“I really can’t bear that kind of music. It’s too loud!” (Saya benar-benar tidak suka jenis musik seperti itu. Terlalu berisik!”

Contoh:
“I loathe him. He lost my respect since that incident.” (Saya benci dia. Dia kehilangan rasa hormat saya sejak kejadian itu.)

Contoh:
“Their new house is actually really awesome. Too bad, the decoration is not my taste.” (Rumah baru mereka sebenarnya bagus sekali. Sayang, dekorasinya bukan selera saya.)

Contoh:
Jess: “Hey, I have a lot of fresh shrimps at home. Do you want some?” (Eh, aku punya banyak udang segar di rumah. Kamu mau?)
Mary: “No, you can keep it. I’m allergic to them.” (Tidak deh. Aku alergi udang soalnya.)

Contoh:
“Geography is not my favorite subject at school. I don’t know why, it’s just not my thing.” (Geografi bukan pelajaran favorit saya di sekolah. Entah kenapa, pokoknya saya tidak suka saja.)

Contoh:
“Her wedding dress is amazing, but the shoulder part is not my favorite. Other than that, all good.” (Gaun pengantinnya luar biasa sekali, tapi saya tidak suka bagian bahunya. Selain itu sih, semuanya bagus.)
21. It doesn’t float my boat
Contoh:
“I’m sorry, I can’t go with you tonight. Sitting for 3 hours watching an opera performance really doesn’t float my boat” (Maaf ya, aku tidak bisa pergi bersama kamu malam ini. Saya tidak tahan kalau harus duduk selama 3 jam menonton pertunjukan opera.)

Contoh:
“I hate when it rains and I don’t bring umbrella.” (Aku benci deh kalau hujan turun dan aku tidak membawa payung.)
23. It sucks
Contoh:
Joanne: “Hey, did you see the latest announcement? Now we can’t bring cellphone to the class!” (Eh, kamu sudah lihat belum pengumuman terbaru? Sekarang kita tidak boleh bawa ponsel ke kelas, lho!)
Patricia: “Really? Urgh, that sucks!” (Masa? Ah, menyebalkan sekali!)
